Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has resigned. He resigned after the Supreme Court ordered a majority trial last night.

“I do not want the blood of Shiv Sainiks to flow. Therefore, I am resigning from the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Thackeray said, “I am not saddened by the resignation.”

Maharashtra Governor Kosiyari had also called a special session of the Legislative Assembly at 11 am today to test the majority. Shiv Sena leader Sunil Prabhu had filed a writ petition against it.

Supreme Court Justices Suryakant and JB Pardiwala, while hearing the writ petition, had ruled that the floor test could not be stopped in the assembly. After that, Chief Minister Thackeray announced his resignation.
